Zoom Light — Soft Screen Light for Calls
The Zoom Light tool fills your screen with a soft, even tone you can place in front of you to lift shadows on your face during video meetings, classes, and streams.
Unlike a harsh desk lamp pointed at your eyes, a diffused screen at moderate brightness wraps light more gently when angled toward a wall or through a thin diffuser.
No app install is required—open the page on a spare monitor, laptop, or tablet and enter fullscreen for an instant fill light.
How a screen works as video light
Monitors emit broad, soft light compared to small LED bulbs. White or warm tones at 40–70% brightness often look natural on webcams without clipping highlights.
Position the light screen slightly off-axis from the camera to reduce glare in glasses while still filling under-chin shadows.
Choosing color temperature
Neutral white matches most office environments. Warm yellow or orange can match incandescent rooms; avoid saturated colors unless you want a stylized look.
Match approximate white balance in your camera settings so skin tones stay consistent.
Multi-monitor setups
Run Zoom Light on a secondary display while your main screen holds slides or notes. Lower the fill brightness if the room already has window light.
Mobile and tablet use
A tablet on a stand in landscape mode makes a portable fill for travel calls. Keep charging connected for long meetings.
Limitations vs ring lights
Dedicated ring lights offer circular catchlights in eyes and consistent output. Screen light is a zero-cost backup when hardware is unavailable.
